Chinese Staff

Pastor Emeritus Mark Kor Cheng was born in Fujian, China. He received the Lord when he was 26 and dedicated himself to the Lord’s service when he was 30. He graduated from Alliance Bible Seminary in Hong Kong and taught in that seminary. He also taught in a seminary in the Philippines and the Christian Witness Seminary in the United States. Afterward, Pastor Cheng served as the Senior Pastor of Grace Gospel Church in Manila, Philippines, where he pioneered Chinese church engagement in missions. He then served as the General Secretary of the Chinese Christian Missions in the United States.

In 1992, Pastor Cheng came to Mountain View Chinese Christian Church to serve as the Senior Pastor and later became the Pastor Emeritus. He has served the Lord for over 50 years and is especially burdened with missionary work. His recent prayer was for the Lord to turn China into a missionary nation with at least 400 million Christians and 100,000 missionaries. 

Pastor Cheng passed away last year and his presence will be missed.

Rev. Tongsu Liu
was born in Nanjing, China. He was a Western Legal Philosophy scholar at Chinese Academy of Social Science. In 1991, he came to US to study European and US law at Yale Law School. During his study at Yale, he received the Lord and converted to Christian faith in 1992. He then entered Yale Divinity School and had his formal theological training from 1993-1997. After graduating from YDS, he planted and ministered several Chinese churches in Connecticut (New Haven), New York (Queens) and California (San Francisco). In addition, he is a member of the editing committee of several popular Christian Magazines such as Behold, Blessings, Christian Life Quarterly, Sky Blue, etc., and authored many articles and books on Christianity, Theology and Discipleship.

Rev. Liu has a great burden for the development and growth of Chinese Home Church. He wrote many papers and books on the subjects of church growth, church registration and the relationship between the government and house churches which influenced many scholars and church leaders in China. He is also a frequent speaker at Christian conferences and seminars in the Chinese Christian communities both in the US and all over the world.

Pastor Tongsu began serving as the senior pastor of MVCCC in 2009. His vision is for MVCCC to be the Golden Lampstand of the Lord in the Silicon Valley to call more people to become followers of Jesus. His prayer is for MVCCC to be a channel of God’s grace and for each church member to be a disciple and ambassador for Jesus Christ!
